Democratic Socialist/Voluntaryists(market anarchy debate)

On Monday, February 22nd at 7pm, Cafe Libertalia hosted the first debate on this topic of high-level of control over people vs. absolutely zero government and thus a completely free market economy.

This was not the typical political debate that argued over what to do with the stolen loot.  Instead it focused on that basic question -- whether or not 'government' is necessary, appropriate or legitimate.

The two sides are from what is generally considered the fringes of political philosophy: a high level of people- management (governmental regulations, mandates, etc.) vs. absolutely no management. This contrast should expose the dynamics of philosophy.

Thank you everyone who attended our Candidate Mailing party Jan 9th. It was a huge success! We had over 40 people show up and we finished in record time. All the donuts, cookies and pizza were gone. That is always a good sign.

I posted a few photos here.

PRESS RELEASE: SD slapped down for charging fees to collect fees

FOURTH DISTRICT: CASE OF WEISBLAT  v.  CITY OF SAN DIEGO IS REVERSED AND REMANDED.

August 18, 2009, SAN DIEGO -  In a stunning blow to the City of San Diego, and especially the City Attorney's Office, the Fourth District Court of Appeals today unanimously ruled that the City of San Diego may not charge a fee to collect a tax.

In January of 2005 the City of San Diego started charging a $25 "fee" to collect the business tax from every business and rental property owner in the city.   Shortly thereafter Sidney Weisblat and his neighbor, Kenneth Ledgerwood -- two landlords who objected to this fee -- sued to stop this practice.

"Landlords have already been burdened with the Rental Tax.It was ridiculous to also have to pay a FEE just to have the City cash my tax check!" said Weisblat.  Read more »

Libertarian Radio Stations

Even though there are no radio stations per se in San Diego that are libertarian, except for MAYBE Roger Hedgecock, there are some around the country that you can stream.

One of which is an AM station in Pheonix, http://www.libertariansolution.com/
